September 3, 2024 Cycle 1 Chemo Day 8 (second treatment)
The morning started off somewhat early. We dropped Kayden off with our sweet friends for the day and we headed out for the 4 hour drive to the Medical Center.
We arrived at MDA Main and started first at the laboratory for my pre-blood work that is done before each treatment to be sure my levels are safe for treatment infusion . All went good and my labs were all as expected and good to go. After the all clear with labs we had some time to grab some early lunch and visit the gift shop.
After we browsed for a little bit we headed up to the Ambulatory Treatment Center (ATC) over at the MDA Mays Clinic. Treatment began at 3 pm and was mostly uneventful. Our older daughter Ciara came and visited since she lives just a few short minutes from here. It’s nice to get to visit with her while I’m here.
I’m feeling ok most days, the first few days following treatments are my most difficult days. I’m experiencing heavy fatigue, nausea and loss of appetite. By Saturday after treatment I begin to feel much better and my appetite starts to return. We have had so many dear friends and our church family that have been so helpful, either helping with Kayden, bringing us meals, or visiting and praying with us, and sweet care packages of a handmade blanket and a knitted shawl sent by precious friends to help make treatment days a little easier to handle. A gentle reminder to me of His promises of always being there walking me through it all💛.
Next week is my Rest week, no treatment. This will help give my body extra time to recover from the first cycle of treatment and help keep my body strong and help me tolerate the treatments better.
Next follow up in 2 weeks.
